the directors

McCaulay’s Health Clubs are owned and operated by Jamie Phillips, Hadrian Wakeham & Duncan Hermer. Having all grown up and schooled together in Devon, the three know each other inside out.

This has undoubtedly created and helped maintain the common ethos by which the company is run.

These days Duncan & Hadrian are very much  silent partners with other business interests and the running of the company at Director level is conducted by Jamie. Jamie believes very much in a ‘hands on’ approach in all areas of the business, whilst being sure to allow the club teams the freedom to implement their own ideas, procedures and policies.  This ensures the clubs are constantly evolving and are the result of lots of minds rather than just one.

Duncan Hermer

Name: Duncan Hermer
Club: Dinnaton Fitness & Golf
Position: Director
Likes: Being outside, my dog & positive attitudes (and of course all the McCaulay's team). Did I forget my wife too?!
Dislikes: Golf (sorry I know that's bad form, but it's true) & people with continuously poor excuses for not exercising (oh, and shaving).
Hobbies: Any type of exercise (within reason), going to music gigs, surfing & playing my guitar.
Can often be seen: Flitting in and out of the clubs & the office. Don't underestimate how much you can get done in a 'flit'.

Jamie Phillips

Name: Jamie Phillips
Club: Dinnaton Fitness & Golf
Position: Finance Director
Likes: Counting money, shortcuts
Dislikes: People who are late
Hobbies: Cycling
Can often be seen: Staring at a spreadsheet (someone's gotta do it).

Hadrian Wakeham

Name: Hadrian Wakeham
Club: Dinnaton Fitness & Golf
Position: Director
Likes: Having his fingers in lots of different pies.
Dislikes: Negative attitudes, money wasting & tomatoes
Hobbies: His beloved Tottenham Hotspur. He'd probably say having 2 young kids leaves no time for hobbies...
Can often be seen: Actually, not seen very often.
